In this powerful opening chapter, we unveil the bold and uncompromising foundation of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League (UNIA) — not as a movement of protest, but as a revolutionary blueprint for Black sovereignty. Born in the shadow of colonial domination and global racial oppression, the UNIA did not seek inclusion in white-controlled systems. Instead, it offered a radical alternative: complete independence and self-rule for the global African diaspora.
